FC Dallas Academy Teams Split Season Openers

Lost in the shuffle of the FCD game at San Jose on Saturday was the season openers for both the U16 and U18 Academy teams against Texans SC from Houston. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend the match due to extenuating circumstances, but the U18’s defeated TSC 3-0 while the U16’s lost 1-0.

The FC Dallas Academy has a brand new blog that you should check out and they have the lineups from both the games.

Scoring Summary:

FCD- Jonathan Top (Bryan Leyva) 40
FCD- Bryan Leyva (Jonathan Top) 43
FCD- Jonathan Top (Jose Perez) 61

FCD Roster- Eduardo Cortes, Michael Ambrose (Nicholas Rochowski 55), Jack Coleman, Daniel Garcia (Christian Garcia 76), Moises Hernandez (Skylar Hagan 70), Bryan Leyva (Victor Pinal 65), Boyd Okwuonu, Jose Perez (Jose Gamino 65), Jonathan Top, Victor Ulloa (Flavio Guzman 45).

Star forward Jonathan Top who has trained with the first team on occasion gets two of the three goals for FC Dallas….probably the most interesting thing however is the fact that Bryan Leyva, Victor Ulloa and Moises Hernandez are still playing for the Juniors. This is great news for FC Dallas fans as it allows them to get valuable game time that many MLS reserves don’t get. I’m hoping to get some time with Oscar Pareja or Chris Hayden soon to ask about this change to the rules Also interesting is the fact that both Boyd Okwuonu and Michael Ambrose started for FC Dallas as they have been rumored to be headed to the RSL Academy in Arizona.

TSC is probably one of the bottom 2 or 3 teams in the Texas Division, but this is still a great start for FC Dallas.

Keep reading to see what well known player logged 65 minutes for the FCD U16 team

TSC: Erik Albarran, 28

FCD Roster- Caleb Underwood, Mark Ashby, Marco Carrizales (Francisco Rodriguez 54), Erick Chapa (Gabriel Cano 51), Bobby Edet, Jacob Garza (Javan Toledo 15), Roberto Gonzales, Juan Herrera, Emerson Hyndman (Ricardo Mejia 65), Marco Ortiz (William Coleman 65), Jairo Villalta (Victor Portillo 35).

It’s tough to evaluate this game without having seen it at all, but the most interesting thing is that Schellas Hyndman’s grandson wonderkid Emo Hyndman logged 65 minutes starting for FCDA. I can’t wait to get out there and see how this kid is developing.

FCDA returns to action in Houston on the 26th as they travel to play Texas Rush AJ Auxerre. Their next home game is a showdown against arch rival Houston Dynamo a month from now on October 10th at Pizza Hut Park, the start of four weekends in a row that the Juniors will be playing at PHP.
