RSL vs Seattle Sounders Starts Marquis MLS Weekend

4 games….8 playoff teams….1 weekend

Perhaps the best thing about FC Dallas being in the Supporter’s Shield hunt is how interesting it makes all the other games. There’s going to be 4 can’t miss games this weekend for FC Dallas fans as all 8 playoff teams face off against each other in a weekend that will either provide a little separation for the top teams or potentially leave 4 teams within 2 points of the top of the league.

Go ahead and plan on being a bit tired at work tomorrow because there’s can’t-miss game tonight on ESPN2 at 10pm as RSL travels to Seattle to take on the Sounders. Real Salt Lake returns to the stadium where they lifted the championship last season and they’ll need to put in a similar effort if they want to come away from Seattle with three points. Seattle, 4 points ahead of Toronto for the last playoff spot, need the three points just as bad as they look to solidify their playoff chances and protect their home field. It should be an electric atmosphere in what is a game where FCD fans should pull as hard as they can for the Sounders.

The biggest game of the weekend…other than the Dallas game…involves two of the three teams above FCD as Columbus heads to the HDC for a massive matchup against LA with first place in the league on the line. The Galaxy have looked completely pedestrian lately with just 1 win in their last 6 games so Columbus has to be the favorite heading into this one. A draw could see both teams leapfrogged by RSL if they can manage to win at Seattle.

In case you needed a reminder:

LA Galaxy         44 points  23 games played

Columbus          44 points 23 games played

Real Salt Lake  43 points 23 games played

FC Dallas          40 points 22 games played

Should be a riveting weekend and of course we will take an in-depth look at the FCD game tomorrow
