Well this scoreline is becoming a nice habit.

My Tivo screwed up due to the game being on a station that is a mere theory at this point. With the team as good as it is, it’s a shame that some of these games get relegated to a station that, at least for Time Warner Cable customers, you can’t even record because the game doesn’t show up on the TV schedule guide.

Anyways, there’s obviously a ton of positives to take from the game.

Anytime you get 3 points on the road it’s a great result no matter who you’re playing. As we saw in the first 30 minutes, DC United came to play yesterday evening but FC Dallas withstood the pressure….barely….and scored a huge counterattack goal to completely deflate DC.

Eric Alexander was given the opportunity to distance himself from Bruno and Avila on the depth chart and he passed the test with flying colors. The kid from Indiana was arguably the man of the match last night. I think Dax is still the starter at the position when healthy, but this team just gets deeper and deeper with the rise of Alexander.

Kevin Hartman’s performance in the first 30 minutes saved the game for Dallas. This game would’ve been much much different had DC taken a 1-0 lead. Hartman redeemed himself for his awful performance at DC in the Open Cup earlier in the season.

Jeff Cunningham is about to blow up the scoresheet. Perhaps the best part of this easy part of FCD’s schedule is that it’s restored Jeff Cunningham’s confidence. He’s a different player out there right now and should score again next weekend against Chivas USA.

Game reports, quotes, highlights and hilarity from Eric Alexander’s grandmother after the jump

Travis Clark’s game story for the Dallas Morning News and blurb about youngsters stepping up for FCD.

“Kevin is a player that is making a difference,” Hyndman said. “He’s been very good for us; he makes the defense play better. Instead of giving up one or two goals, we’re giving up no more than one goal a game.”

“It was one of those games where you make an early save and have confidence,” Hartman said

Steve Hunt talks about rookies paving the way to the playoffs for FC Dallas.

Alexander’s performance was all the more impressive considering he had somewhat of a shaky start. Several giveaways in the middle of the pitch led to DC scoring chances, and were it not for some big-time saves by FCD goalkeeper Kevin Hartman, Alexander’s gaffes could have been very costly.

In the MLSSoccer.com game recap, Eric Alexander’s grandmother hilariously posts in the comments that he is her favorite grandson….sorry other Alexander grandsons.

Steve Goff’s gamer for the Washington Post includes a quote from Ben Olsen about the huge save on Allsopp in the first half.

“Up until that point [when Dallas went ahead], there was some pretty good stuff,” he said. “It seemed like after we missed Danny’s chance, we took it the wrong way. I felt like there was some air let out.”

Before the goal, “everything was there the pressure, the energy, we were actually keeping the ball and moving it,” McTavish said. “It’s tough going into the locker room wasting that much energy and not being up.”
